This modern mountain home is blending natural materials with harmony from the surrounding landscape. The structure is divided into two volumes – a spacious living area and private sleeping quarters, connected by a green, light-filled atrium that brings the forest inside. Cascading pools and expansive terraces enhance the sense of tranquility and luxury.

This two levels apartment is located on the top floor of one of the complex buildings. First level is bigger and is surrounded from two sides by “L” shaped balcony. It consists of one open-plan livingroom with dining and kitchen zones, two children bedrooms and a bathroom. Second level is designed for master bedroom, small bathroom, toilet and closet. Before the redesign, the floor plan was not particularly well thought out, specially the bedrooms and bathroom zones of the first level. That required demolishing a few walls in this area and constructing new ones in a different configuration and more strict organization.

The living room, with its double ceiling, had its layout and atmosphere transformed. On one site of this space there are stairs in specific appearance (in the primary design they were twisted circular stairs), which configuration enable getting up to the second level in a very economical area. All slope ceilings are wooden panelling and wooden beams with built in lighting.

All Floors have been leveled.

Basic data of the project: An old family house built in the middle of the 20th century, located in old downtown of Pomorie. Тhe building was in very bad condition. Construction, facades and interior were damaged and shabby.

Assignment: Keeping the existing layout, giving a new appearance but with respect for the past. Creating and differentiating three separate small apartments with their own bathroom, bedroom and Livingroom. Each apartment is with its own specific character.

Basic data of the project: two-bedroom apartment of 75 square meters, with two bathrooms in a building built in the early years of post-socialist Bulgaria. There was tight planning and maximum number of small rooms and corridors. The owner of the flat is a business lady who travels a lot.

Assignment: Keeping the existing layout. Creating a comfortable, harmonious place to rest and welcome guests; an economical budget.

My goal in designing: To create clear and calm forms that are balancing the small spaces and at the same time to transform the spaces into comfortable and functional areas. A game between warm, earthy colors and bright accents that are suggesting a female presence.

The project implementation started with the overall demolition of the dilapidated old roof. In order to preserve the authentic look of the house and due to a number of legal and constructive requirements, I invented the construction of a new wooden structure with preserved main heights and positions of the bearing elements. I designed 6 new dormer wholly windows, to the beat of the existing facades to gain more light in the residence.

The loft is housed in an old building built in 1927, located in the downtown of Sofia, consisting of living room, kitchen and two bedrooms. During the construction of the new look inside-out, I was lead by the old spirit of the building and the neighbourhood, the proximity of the busiest central areas and the dynamics of the present time. Therefore, the organization of the space and the furniture combine classical techniques and traditional natural materials (wood taken of the old roof design, metal, etc.), but mixed a modern variety.

The loft is located on the 12th floor in the building “Red Apple” in Sofia and spread all over 96 square meters. This is a building distinguished by its design typical of Soho in New York (old factories turned into studios and homes of artists in the 60s). The continuation of this style in the interior was a great challenge for me. In order to achieve a specific contrast I combined the energy and warmth of natural materials like brick, wood and metal with clean and minimalist modern design.

The owner of the loft is a man with a bohemian and adventurous spirit! Therefore, my target was a place active and artistically, but simultaneously a good environment for many objects and works of art collected during his travels.

The greatest height of 6 meter in the living room allow the construction of an intermediate platform, which is a place for relaxation, meditation, reading and especially for the contemplation of the stunning view of the city, thanks to the enormous windows.

During the interior work I also created two art-installations (“The Secret Garden” and “Urbanus Folklor”), which bring dynamic accents in the space of the living room and bedroom, and bear its function with storage of accessories and clothing.

For me the realization of this project was a process of constantly reinventing and rethinking of my understanding of aesthetics and design and of course an irreplaceable experience.
